Estimator maritime steel conservation – Algeciras (Cernaval shipyard), Spain | Full-time

396x271_HR image male stimator.png For our maritime blasting and coating projects at the Cernaval shipyard in Algeciras, we are looking for an experienced estimator as part of a fast-growing Spanish team within the Braspenning Group. Every project starts with your numbers. You will estimate and plan maritime coating work, from the office to the dock in Algeciras.

Estimator / Work Planner – Algeciras (Cernaval shipyard), Spain | Full-time

Before the first square metre of hull is blasted, someone has worked out what the job will cost, how long it will take and what could go wrong. At Braspenning Group, on the Cernaval shipyard in Algeciras, that someone is you. The Braspenning Group has been protecting steel against corrosion since 1956. From our locations in the Netherlands, France, Germany, Sweden, Spain and Curaçao, we blast and coat cruise ships and other vessels, bridges, tanks, cranes and offshore structures. In Spain, Braspenning Coatings S.L. carries out maritime steel conservation projects at the Algeciras shipyard and at other locations abroad. We have signed a framework agreement with a Spanish state-owned company, and our Iberian team is growing fast. That is why we are looking for a skilled and meticulous estimator / work planner to join our team at Cernaval.

What you will do:

You turn a client’s request into a well-founded quotation and a workable plan, so that our crews can start fully prepared. You report to the Operations Manager in Spain and to the Dutch management board, and you work closely with colleagues at other locations across the international group.

  • Estimating: you prepare cost estimates for blasting and coating projects, calculating surface areas, materials, man-hours, equipment and scaffolding.
  • Work planning: once a project has been awarded, you prepare it for execution, covering planning, materials, manpower and coordination with the shipyard.
  • Risk assessment: you identify technical, financial and scheduling risks in advance and set out how to manage them.
  • Advising: you act as a sounding board for project management on costs, approach and feasibility.
  • Site visits: you divide your time between the office and the dock, so you see the vessels you estimate for with your own eyes.
  • Photo documentation: you keep a continuous photographic record of each project, before and after execution.

Your profile:

  • Experience in estimating, preferably in shipbuilding, ship repair, surface treatment or industrial maintenance.
  • You live in Spain, preferably in the Algeciras area.
  • A technical qualification at higher vocational or bachelor’s level (for example Técnico Superior or an engineering degree).
  • Fluent, near-native English and Spanish. Dutch is a welcome bonus.
  • A technical maritime background is a strong advantage.
  • A valid occupational health and safety certificate (PRL – Prevención de Riesgos Laborales).
  • You think analytically, keep a close eye on costs and stay on top of the planning and risks of maritime steel conservation projects.

What we offer

  • A varied role where technical expertise meets commercial decision-making.
  • A growing Spanish branch, backed by an international group with seventy years of history.
  • Short lines of communication with both the Spanish team and management in the Netherlands.
