Purchasing & Office Administrator

393x273_purchasing office admin.jpg

As our full-time Purchasing & Office Administrator for our head office in Amsterdam, you make sure abrasives, paint and materials are in the right place at the right time. You place orders, monitor delivery times, manage stock and act as the regular point of contact for suppliers and colleagues. Full-time, with a one-year contract and the prospect of a permanent position.

Blasting a ship's hull, coating a bridge, protecting a storage tank: it all starts with the right materials, in the right place, at the right time. That's where you come in. We are looking for a full-time Purchasing & Office  Administrator to join our team in Amsterdam. Since 1956, Braspenning Group has been protecting steel against corrosion. We blast and coat ships, bridges, storage tanks, cranes and offshore structures, among other  things. We do this in our own blasting halls and at shipyards in the Netherlands, France, Sweden, Spain and Curaçao. Furthermore, we are an Amsterdam-based business with short lines of communication: you know your colleagues,  and you can see the results of your work on the shop floor immediately.

What you'll do
No blasting job without abrasive, no coating project without paint, and neither happens without someone making sure everything arrives on time. You are the point of contact between suppliers, project managers, managing directors, the warehouse and the accounts department. Whenever something needs to be ordered, delivered or shipped, it goes through you.

  • Purchasing: you request quotations, place orders and create purchase orders (POs) in our system. You build strong relationships with our suppliers, who know you as their regular contact.
  • Monitoring delivery times: if a delivery is at risk of running late, you let the project manager know in good time.
  • Stock management: you keep stock levels up to date and well documented, including regular stock counts.
  • Goods in and out: you check incoming deliveries, prepare orders for dispatch and arrange shipping.
  • Accurate data: you keep item, price and stock data up to date, so everyone works with the latest information. Together with accounts payable, you make sure orders and invoices match.
  • Go-to person: colleagues come to you with questions about purchases, delivery times and orders.
  • Improvement: if you see a smarter way of working, you propose it and, once agreed, put it into practice.
About you
You don't wait for things to get sorted out. You take the initiative and sort them out yourself. You also:
  • have at least a secondary vocational qualification (MBO level), for example in logistics, purchasing or business administration;
  • have experience with an ERP or order management system;
  • work accurately and use your common sense;
  • keep track of everything, even when five things land on your desk at once;
  • speak and write near-native English, as many of our suppliers and colleagues are based outside the Netherlands;
  • know how to deal with suppliers and aren't afraid to negotiate.
  • Experience in an industrial, maritime or technical environment is a definite plus.
What we offer
  • A varied role at a technical company with seventy years of history
  • A one-year contract with the prospect of a permanent position
  • A good salary
  • An excellent pension scheme
  • Travel allowance
  • The tools you need to do your job correctly
  • A workplace with free parking right outside, also easily accessible by public transport
  • Padel with your colleagues every other week
  • Free tickets to the Braspenning sky box at various football matches, subject to availability
